His paranoia gains the upper hand and, during a storm, events culminate in a confrontation with grave consequences. Roth must come to terms with the after effects of an attack and asks his assistant Ines for help. She discovers something unsettling about him. Roth's tests in his illegal laboratory are still not getting the desired results. In the clinic, Jeschke airs his grievances about Roth. Clinic Director Professor Gessl decides to make enquiries about Roth with his predecessor. In flashbacks, we see the deep cracks in the Larenz marriage and the suffering this causes Josy.
